FAQ

Haunt keeps all light flashes within epilepsy-safe limits: no more than 3 flashes per second, following Harding & Wilkins photosensitivity guidelines. If you choose to skip flash effects in the app, all strobe-style cues are removed entirely. People who are sensitive to flashing lights should use the “Skip effects” option or consult their doctor before use.
Haunt plays audio through your own speakers at a volume you control. The AI voice and ambient sounds can be kept at conversational levels — no need to disturb neighbors. We recommend using a HomePod, AirPlay speaker or headphones for the best spatial effect. The app has no built-in siren or alarm; you set the volume.
Haunt requires an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Philips Hue lights are recommended for full choreography but not required — the app also works with your phone screen and built-in speaker alone. A Philips Hue Bridge is recommended for the best multi-room light experience. AirPlay speakers (HomePod etc.) add spatial audio. Chromecast audio is also supported. The Android version is currently in closed testing.
Haunt is rated 16+ (intense horror themes plus user-generated content). It is not designed for children. The app contains atmospheric horror including sudden sounds, voice acting and jump scares (adjustable). There is no graphic violence or gore. Users can adjust scare intensity or disable jump scares entirely in settings.
